The Philadelphia Flyers tried to move up to No. 4

TSN: Pierre LeBrun said the Philadelphia Flyers jumped the Columbus Blue Jackets for the No. 4 pick in Friday’s draft.

“…offering a trade for a first round pick (Flyers at #12), a roster player, and possibly next year’s first round pick as part of a package to try and get the fourth pick. I believe the answer was no, but it doesn’t mean they won’t try again.”

Flyers are not limited to purchase

Kevin Kurz: A source said the Philadelphia Flyers are still deciding who to sign. Forward Cam Atkinson and goalkeeper Cal Petersen are options.

Atkinson has a list of 10 non-trade teams. The Flyers have talked to other teams about him.

The Washington Capitals will be aggressive

Maclellan also said they might stick with the No. 17 pick.

Jimmy Murphy: GM Sweeney said he hopes to re-sign UFA Danton Heinen but indicated that all of his other UFAs will be granted waivers.

Conor Ryan: GM Sweeney on contract talks with pending RFA goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman: “It’s our priority to continue to have the necessary discussions to get Jeremy under contract. We will continue to do that. “And we’ve been doing that and we hope to get it later. Because that is a priority.”

Ryan Suter will receive interest after his purchase

Pierre LeBrun: Ryan Suter was told Tuesday night that he will be bought out by the Dallas Stars.

Suter still wants to play and there has been interest from other teams.

Ilya Mikheyev would not give up his NTC for the Sharks

Taj: Rick Dhaliwal said Ilya Mikheyev will not waive his no-trade clause to go to the San Jose Sharks.

Someone told Dhaliwal that if the Vancouver Canucks had sent him to San Jose, they wouldn’t have had to retain any salary.
