Chris Johnston: Sources say the Nashville Predators and Juuse Saros have agreed to an eight-year contract extension worth $7.74 million per season. He is eligible to sign an extension on Monday.

Pierre LeBrun: The parties are still working on it. GM Barry Trotz was always confident they would get a deal done.

The Predators may not have any plans to trade the goaltender

Frank Seravalli: The Predators’ plan is to play Yaroslav Askarov back to Milwaukee (AHL) next season. It will be interesting to see how other teams react to that.

Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean: On Thursday (before news of the Saros extension broke), Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz said it was “highly unlikely” and added “I would say the chances are zero, almost” that they will trade one for Juuse Saros and Jaroslav Askarov.

Teams have called the Predators about scoring but for now it’s fine.

“There are a few teams that have called me about our situation here,” said Trotz. “But I’m fine where we are (with Saros and Askarov).

The Canes upped their offer to Jake Guentzel, the Bruins are going after Elias Lindholm, and the Jets are calling up McGroarty and Ehlers

TSN: The Carolina Hurricanes are the only team that can offer Jake Guentzel a big eight-year deal and Pierre LeBrun says they’ve upped their offer and given him plenty to think about.

Some will be interested, some amazing teams, and some will need to shell out money.

Darren Dreger notes that the Vancouver Canucks are one of the teams that will be interested in Guentzel but how can they create the necessary salary cap space.

The Canucks have pending UFA center Elias Lindholm, who may be of interest to the Boston Bruins. Defenseman Chris Tanev will be of interest to the Canucks in free agency.
