Vancouver Canucks Thatcher Demko may not be ready for Camp
Tyler Kuehl of the Daily Faceoff: Rick Dhaliwal said on Sportsnet 650 radio that Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko may not be ready for the start of training camp.
“It’s ongoing,” said Dhaliwal. “But there’s no timetable for when he’ll be 100 percent healthy…At that time, he hadn’t skated since . Rehab is not as fast as some want, but I don’t feel any inconvenience.”
The Canucks are keeping things quiet regarding Demko.
Dhaliwal added that it wouldn’t be surprising if the Canucks looked at the goalie market again and may need to get some insurance.
Despite the trade request, it will still be expensive to land Yaroslav Askarov
Michael Gallagher: Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz learned that a trade request was coming from Yaroslav Askarov’s camp when Juuse Saros was signed to his eight-year contract.
(Gallagher) got the sense from the talks that Trotz and Askarov clashed on a personal level so that Trotz wanted to commit to Askarov on a year-to-year basis and not long-term.
Michael Gallagher: Trotz has always maintained that Askarov’s return must be a good NHL player or involve an A-level prospect. A draft pick and a B-level prospect will never materialize.
