Nippon Shaft enjoys double-win weekend on Tour – Golf News

Japanese shaft manufacturer Nippon Shaft enjoyed a double-win weekend after the US Women’s Open champion and the winner of the DP World Tour’s Porsche European Open both had irons fitted with the company’s products.

England’s Laurie Canter claimed her first ever DP World Tour title when she shot rounds of 68, 66, 73 and 72 at Green Eagle Golf Course in Germany to finish 13th.

Canter, 34, switched to a new set of irons a week before the tournament, using a set of Ping’s Blueprint Forged S irons with a set of NSPRO MODUS³ Tour 120 X iron shafts to improve his game and eventually lead the tournament in greens-in- regulation.

“Nippon Shaft is pleased that this year’s European Open champion has achieved immediate results after switching to Nippon Shaft products,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing at Nippon Shaft. “He showed how important greens-in-regulation numbers are when it comes to winning golf tournaments. The consistency of Nippon Shaft products gives golfers confidence in the distances their irons will fly.”

In America, Japan’s Yuka Saso claimed her second US Women’s Open title in four years when she finished three shots clear of the pack at Lancaster Golf Club in Pennsylvania.

Saso used MODUS³ Tour Prototype iron shafts in his Callaway CB and MB irons and NSPRO MODUS³ Tour 105 iron shafts in his Callaway Jaws wedges.

The 22-year-old was three shots behind to start the final round but made four shots on the back nine to finish at 4 and beat fellow Japanese player Hinako Shibuno by three shots. They are the only players to finish below the category in the week of difficult scoring conditions.

Fukuda commented: “Nippon Shaft is very pleased that this year’s US Women’s Open champion has trusted Nippon Shaft products to enable her to perform at her best. We look forward to watching and supporting him as he continues to progress in his career.”

More than 500 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, DP Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s NSPRO and MODUS³ series irons to help achieve their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.

Nippon Shaft products are available worldwide as stock or custom shafts from many of the world’s leading steel companies. Details of this can be found at www.nipponshaft.com.
