India they are set to embark on a challenging journey to Australia in November with five games Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 A test series, aimed at building on their recent impressive performance against the Aussies in test cricket. India’s recent dominance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy

In recent years, India have established an impressive record against Australia in Test cricket. The last four series between these two teams ended in favor of India, each going slowly by 2-1. This includes their landmark victories on Australian soil in the 2018/19 and 2020/21 series. The latter series was particularly notable as it came amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with India hosting a memorable performance in Sydney before winning the final Test at the Gabba with a much depleted and inexperienced team.

Australia’s last series win over India came in the 2014/15 season. The Aussies won the first two Tests in Adelaide and Brisbane, while the third Test in Melbourne ended in a draw. This series also saw a big change in Indian cricket, as MS Dhoni resigned from his captaincy midway through the series, handing over the leadership to Virat Kohli.

Looking forward to the upcoming series, Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon shared his thoughts with ESPNCricinfo, stressing the determination of the host team to reverse their recent fortunes against India. Lyon expressed a strong desire to bring back the trophy. He acknowledged India’s strength but remained focused on the goal of winning the series again.

“It has been ten years since the business was completed, it has been a long time, and I know that we are very hungry to change things, especially here at home. Don’t get me wrong, India are an absolute star side and it’s very challenging but I’m very hungry to turn things around and make sure we get that trophy,” Lyon said.

Lyon’s warning to Australian bowlers

Lyon also highlighted the Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal as a significant challenge for Australian bowlers. He said he had conversations with him In England spinner Tom Hartley about Jaiswal’s abilities, especially after Hartley’s experience during the county season with Lancashire.

“I haven’t found him yet [Jaiswal] however, that will be a big challenge for all of us skaters. The way he played against England, I watched that and I thought it was really amazing. I had some really good conversations with Tom Hartley about the different ways he talked to different guys which I found very interesting. I love talking about cricket, so if I can talk to someone who has played Test cricket I can pick up on something I don’t know. There is a lot of information floating around about this game that we can always find out about,” Lyon concluded.

Jaiswal’s performance in India’s recent Test series against England was impressive; he amassed 712 runs at an average of 89, including two hundreds and three fifties. Despite Hartley’s efforts, Jaiswal was dismissed only once in five Tests. Jaiswal will be touring Australia for the first time with a senior team, and will be eager to make an impact against Australia’s formidable bowling attack.
