Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace were nothing short of successful at the end of 2023/24.
The Austrian manager appeared to transform the Selhurst Park touchline, with Eagles fans enjoying the brand of football led by the club’s attacking premiership.
Glasner will have to make do without Michael Olise in 2024/25, but will hope Eberechi Eze continues to shine alongside Reds goalscorer Jean-Philippe Mateta. The familiarity of the club’s new arrivals will determine whether Palace can match or improve upon Glasner’s immediate start.

Palace have been consistent since entering the Premier League in the last five years. Since the 2019/20 Covid season, the Eagles have never finished below 14 and Glasner guided them to an impressive 10th place finish last term.
They have shown little in their time in the Premier League since returning to the top flight in 2013, but their ability to avoid relegation without much of a fuss must be commended.
Glasner will also be looking forward to overseeing a magical cup run in his first full season at Selhurst Park. Palace have reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup since 2020 and have struggled to get past the third round in the FA and EFL Cups of late.

There has already been a change in Palace’s shirt number as Ismaila Sarr replaces Olise as the team’s number seven.
Daichi Kamada chose 18, while defender Chadi Riad will play 34. The former Real Betis midfielder could quickly play a key role in south London if Joachim Andersen or Marc Guehi leave the club before the end of the summer. the window.

Jean-Philippe Mateta will no longer benefit from Olise’s creative genius at Selhurst Park, but the French striker should be in for another goalscoring campaign if Eze stays at the club.
The Frenchman excelled under Glasner last season, scoring 13 times in as many Premier League games after the Austrian took over. Mateta’s campaign ended with a hat-trick against Aston Villa and his fine form continued in the summer as his goals fired France to silver at the Olympics on home soil.
The 27-year-old has found his feet in south London after years of neglect and it’s hard to see anyone challenging him for Palace top goalscorer honours. A smart Kamada could spring a surprise or two, like Sarr if he gets his feet on the right foot. Eze will play a major role from the inside left position.
Olise’s exit is a huge blow and it’s hard to see Palace’s summer additions completely reducing the Frenchman’s departure. The Eagles may be promoted before the end of the window, but if they can keep Eze and Guehi, they are set to enjoy a good campaign under Glasner.
The Austrian’s style of play is conducive to continued success at this level, although teams will begin to cling to what Glasner is trying to achieve with this Palace team. His first full season won’t come without some struggles and how well the manager deals with the lulls will determine how far the Eagles go in 2024/25.
They have retained their current stars and should push for a top half finish.
