Raheem Sterling’s stance on Man Utd’s move has been revealed

Raheem Sterling would have delighted in a move to Manchester United this late to transfer window, the report says, but only when he has reached an agreement with Chelsea regarding the payment of his contract.

The Blues have stripped Sterling of his squad number and told him to find a new team before the window closes on Friday.

The winger has been linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in recent days, with United also emerging as a possible destination.

According to the The Daily TelegraphSterling will consider a move to Old Trafford. Although he has played for rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, he has admitted that he grew up a fan of United.

But while Sterling is keen to leave Chelsea, he first wants certainty over the minimum payment on his contract.

Sterling’s deal at Stamford Bridge is worth £300,000-a-week and will run for another three years, so he will be owed £40m by Chelsea if he stays to see out the rest of the deal.

Although Sterling is keen on a permanent move, talks will take place over his salary cap should he go on an initial loan. Once this financial hurdle is overcome, you will begin to discuss personal terms with stakeholders.

United have made four signings in this transfer window, bringing in striker Joshua Zirkzee and defenders Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Talks are continuing with Paris Saint-Germain over midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who could replace Scott McTominay at the club if he agrees to a £25.4m move to Napoli.

Chelsea and United both sit on three points after two rounds of Premier League games so far this season.
