Razzball Commenter Leagues, Week 16, 2024 Fantasy Baseball

Happy All-Star break, RCLers! We’re about 60% of the way through now and this lull in action is a good time to regroup, analyze our teams and league standings, and make a plan for the rest of the season. Are you up 40 steals? Well, maybe look to move the basic threat stolen for some power. Did you drop 40 steals? Maybe you saw that Esteury Ruiz is on the phone as an IL stash. I’m looking to get close to semi-close in a few leagues right now. Guys who have responsibilities at work or those who may trade and lose their savings are ready for this. See if the team wants Kyle Finnegan, Carlos Estevez, or Tanner Scott. Can the Dodgers pull the trigger on veteran Evan Phillips with no save opportunities? Is Clay Holmes in the same place? Things to think about when looking at a tire and tackle. Let’s take a look at what happened last week, week 16:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll take a peek at our residents to see who wants the best “professional” RCLer in the country. We’ll take notes, check postures and generally trap you. The article is also a link, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Gray and Son, not to be confused with Grayson, both had very good weeks with both managers scoring 9.5 points in the standings. Gray led the league in Runs, HRs, RBI, AVG, and Saves while Son led the league in ERA. Gray shot up four spots to sixth, but the real story is Son moving up two spots and demoting MikeC to take the league lead heading into ASB! What a move! The Great Knoche went the other way this week, losing seven points to 11th place.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also look at the top ten standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers like you.

Even after emailing to confirm dates, I was still misled on time. Cutline #1 actually happened this week. Sorry if you got your hopes up and fell to sixth place this week. I have screenshots and proof that the date originally said the 16th week was changed during the week to the 17th week. Maybe it’s just looking, but it’s surprising that nothing is said. However, if you click on the overall standings and go to week 17 you will see the new playoff standings. They look like this:

Also, the Wildcard division with an outside shot at jumping into the Championship Tier on the next cutoff day in three weeks, week 20:

WORKS

All trades that have gone down in the past week. Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

DATE LEAGUE DETAILS
7/10/2024 The Perts League

Gray traded Josh Hader and Robert Suarez for B_don for Aaron Judge

7/14/2024 RCL 34

jgumbel traded Justin Steele to SquatCobblersGrey for Carlos Estevez

The other two deals this week include one where B_don goes crazy. Aaron Judged the two close ones. My goodness. I’d feel better about this if Josh Hader didn’t give up a HR in every third at-bat, but still. My boy, there must be cheaper savings options out there. It’s fitting that Gray led the league in HRs this week…and saves. B_don got two though. B_don leads the Perts in HRs, so he trades in a position of strength, but still. B_don currently has six saves, while the next team has 27. Can these two close the gap in the final 40% of the season? They are probably good for 30 down I would say. So…maybe. We’ll see how it plays out!

CHURCH LEADERS

The best of the week that was.

R – 60 – Afternoon Joy (RCL 34)

HR –25 – Gray (Perts League) & Stiles (DFSers Anonymous)

RBIs – 69 – Moodlight Graham (RCL 12)

SB – 16 – PlatanoPowers (RCL 12)

AVG – .337 – Bcyph (Original Recipe)

K – 88 – UnMusial (RCL 29)

W – 10 – Duck Snorts & Jimmy Jacks (RCL 34)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.05 – lmwk (RCL 30) (in 43 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.628 – lmwk (RCL 30)

RCL 34 and RCL 12 posted good numbers this week, as did Gray. Gray almost won TOW honors, but his combine ratings were just mediocre. No new records, but a heartbeat for all our weekly leaders.

And per week, from VinWins:

22 teams had an ERA under 2. (Last week there were 8)

25 teams had an ERA over 6. (Last week he was 44)

9 teams hit under .200 (Last week there were 5)

19 teams hit over .300. (Last week there were 42)

THE CHURCH GROUP

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it last week.

Team: Drunk Ork

League: RCL 22

Stats: AVG: .314, R: 47, HR: 17, RBI: 54, SB: 3

IP: 72.1, ERA: 1.49, ERA: 0.747, K: 148, W: 7, SV: 3

Summary: Drunk Ork at the time, had amazing build ratios and an excellent case. They went from 69 (good) to 80.5 points and jumped from fifth to second in the RCL 22. Cal Raleigh (.360 with 5 HR/10 RBI/1 SB) and Trea Turner (.478 with 4 HR/9RBI/1 SB) accompanied the offense, which had no roster changes during the week. On the pitching side, Logan Gilbert and Ronel Blanco had two great outings. Gilbert averaged 16 hits with a 1.84/0.477 ERA, while Blanco added 12/2.77/0.692. Both got one win. Tobias Myers, Luis Castillo, and Shota Imanaga all got the win and didn’t allow a run. Good job, Orks, and happy All-Star break, everyone!
