Reiss Nelson explores his options
Despite coming very close to breaking their ten-year Premier League title streak last season, Arsenal have yet to turn Pep Guardiola’s Man City side around.
There was a big improvement in the 2023/24 season from the previous campaign, however, and with the green light in 2024/25, there’s no reason they can’t go one better and land silverware in 12 months’ time.
Especially if the Gunners can do well in the transfer market like they did last summer.
Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson weighing up his options
It is important for any team with title ambitions to have enough depth in their squad to manage if one or two are injured, or if players lose form.
Players like Reiss Nelson, for example, are still needed members of the first team, even if they are not as important to a dynamic team as Declan Rice said.
The Athletic note (subscription required) that Nelson made one start last season, with another 14 appearances coming as a sub.
Perhaps with that in mind when the outlet reported that Nelson wanted to explore his options before the new campaign.
There will be no shortage of players for his services, The Athletic note that West Ham, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are all interested.
It is expected to cost around £20m to get him, if Nelson is able to fulfill his potential, at the age of 24 he would still represent the team that will eventually sign Gunners academy graduates.
Right now it seems that the player is using all the available opportunities before making a decision.
Should he not impress enough to continue at this stage, he still has three more years left on his current Arsenal deal.
