Riyadh Season Enters Partnership With Golden Boy Promotions, Top Level

The Riyadh season is now aligned with many of the top players in the UK and US

Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank both revealed separate partnerships with the Turki Alalshikh-led organization on Monday. Their announcements came within minutes of each other, with both promising to continue raising awareness for the sport.

The details of their deals differed on certain terms. Golden Boy has proven to be a great partner by pushing the ticket sales for Riyadh’s first US season on Aug. 3 in Los Angeles. Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 knockouts) challenges WBA 154-pound Titlist Israel Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) in the main event. Neither boxer nor anyone else on the undercard has a relationship with Golden Boy, speaking of his commitment to carrying the streak forward.

Golden Boy’s first Foray will officially begin on August 10 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. Vergil Ortiz (21-0, 21 KOs)—one of his top stars—faced interim WBC junior middleweight Serhii Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) in the main event of DAZN. Riyadh Season’s presence will be felt through the shoulder show and fight night.

“The agreement reinforces Golden Boy and Riyadh Season’s commitment to promoting the sport of boxing by leveraging the strengths of both organizations,” Golden Boy said in a company statement.

Golden Boy has an exclusive distribution deal with DAZN, the preferred network of Alalshikh and his investment group.

The Top Rank deal calls for 12 Riyadh Season sponsored events through 2024 to 2025.

The Las Vegas-based property uses its content exclusively through ESPN and its platforms. Top Rank was closely involved with the first Riyadh Season event last October 28. The show was headlined by Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), promoted by Top Rank and Queensberry Promotions. Fury won by knockout to defeat former UFC champion and former boxer Francis Ngannou in their non-title fight.

Seven months later, Fury dropped a twelve-round decision to Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) in their memorable May 18 Ring/undisputed heavyweight rematch. Both events were headlined by ESPN+ Pay-Per-View events from Riyadh. Usyk and Fury are expected to run it again on Dec. 21, and in Riyadh.

Top Rank also promotes Jared Anderson (17-0, 15 KOs), who faces Martin Bakole (20-1, 15 KOs) on the August 3 show.

“The partnership will use the power and reach of both organizations to elevate the sport,” said Top Rank in a statement similar to Golden Boy’s mission. “Riyadh season will be present in all Top Rank credits, both during the build-up and on fight night.”

Golden Boy and Top Rank are two of the country’s most prominent stores. They are now part of the same boxing landscape that already includes UK powerhouses Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing. BOXXER will also enter boxing on September 21 in the UK, hosted by Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua for the IBF heavyweight title.
