Rumors have suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers may be targeting Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic in the post-LeBron James era. Lakers great Robert Horry, while recognizing Doncic’s unique talent, expressed doubts about his fit with the Lakers.

“You have to think about this, how old will Luke be (when his current contract ends)? Like 31, 32?” Horry said on the Big Shot Bob podcast, via Lakers Daily’s Jesse Cinquini. “He’s not the best defensive player right now and that’s the Lakers’ problem.”

Horry continued, “You have to have athletic guys who can play defense and Luka, he can score with the best, but we also know you have to take the beers out of his hand because he’s not always going to be in good shape.” .”

Doncic, currently under a five-year, $215 million contract with the Mavericks, is expected to continue with Dallas through the 2026-27 season, with the final year being a player option.
