Ruben Dias is hoping that Manchester City will lift their away game against Arsenal

Ruben Dias says there is “no escape from Arsenal” and is confident Manchester City will raise their performance levels when the Gunners visit the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Although City have led in their opening four Premier League games this season, winning each of them, they struggled to break down Inter Milan’s defense last night as their Champions League opener ended in a draw last night.

Next up is a clash with an Arsenal side who have been City’s closest rivals in the Premier League for the past two seasons in another tough test for Pep Guardiola’s men.

But Dias says they will be ready for the challenge.

He told The Independent: “There is no running away from them, you have to hide from them, if you want to be the best team in this league.

“We are not hiding anything. We want them to come and we want them to be the best.

“The season has just started. I would say we are still far from our best. We were very nice [against Inter] but we’re still improving in terms of playing, mentally, everything.

“We are very happy to do well. We were strong both offensively and defensively and it was very little, the difference between winning or not.

“Another study [curve]. We have a lot to improve and we are looking forward to the future.”

Dias is happy with the point

City struggled to break down Simone Inzaghi’s well-drilled side and it was the visitors who had the better chances with Matteo Darmian wasting everything, attempting a backheel while clear of goal.

In the end, Dias was happy with a point in the 2023 final replay which City won.

“One [point] earned,” he said. “We always want three but the team did well.

“Like the final in Istanbul, they are still a strong team and have a lot of quality.

“For us, these are the games that make us better and stronger.”
