Sean Dyche is ready to dump Jordan Pickford unless the situation improves
Everton coach, Sean Dyche, is ready to release Jordan Pickford if England continue to underperform according to reports.
The Toffees have had a poor start to the campaign and have lost all four of their games and are bottom of the table.
Pickford has scored 13 goals this season and Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa was the second game in a row in which Dyche’s men have conceded two goals.
Dyche is ready to ditch Pickford
Everton seem to be facing an uphill battle to stay in the Premier League this season and it looks like Dyche could be making some big calls.
According to The Sun, the former manager of Burnley is ready to abandon Pickford if his form does not improve and it is believed that Dyche is not happy with his performance.
The report adds that Dyche could move Newcastle’s Nick Pope to Burnley in January if Pickford’s form does not improve, with the 30-year-old now being looked at at Goodison Park.
Pope could be available in the upcoming windows with the Magpies believed to be interested in Burnley’s James Trafford.
It would be a shocking change if Pickford has been the club’s leading man since his £30m move from Sunderland in 2017.
Pickford has played 284 games for Everton, keeping 77 clean sheets and has established himself as the number one player in England.
However, Everton find themselves in a dire situation that could require action if things don’t improve quickly.
If Dyche decides he can’t wait until January then there could be opportunities in the coming weeks for goalkeeper Joao Virginia or veteran stopper Asmir Begovic.
The Toffees move into their new ground next season and will not be looking to play in the Championship for their first campaign there.
