The Seattle Sounders play the LA Galaxy this week in League Cup Round of 32 action.
The Sounders booked their place in the playoffs with a 2-0 win over Minnesota United, although they lost 3-1 to Necaxa in the next game. Brian Schmetzer’s team finished second in West Group 6 behind Necaxa and the Loons finished last.
LA climbed to the top of West Group 2 after two wins over San Jose Earthquakes and Liga MX outfit Chivas. The Galaxy picked up three points with a 2-1 win over rivals San Jose before coming out on top in the penalty shootout against Chivas to add two more points.

Pedro de la Vega — who joined Seattle in the offseason — looked out of sorts again after coming off the first half against an injured Necaxa, a big blow to the Sounders’ attack.
Seattle Sounders predicted to face LA Galaxy ( 4-2-3-1 ): Frei; Alex Roldan, Gomez, Ragen, Tolo; Paulo, Vargas; Cristian Roldan, Albert Rusnak, Chu; Morris.
Striker Dejan Joveljic remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while defender Julian Aude is recovering from a hip problem. Both players are expected to return to action in the next few weeks.
LA Galaxy predicted to face Seattle Sounders (4-3-3): McCarthy; Yamane, Yoshida, Neal, Nelson; Brugman, Puig, Delgado; Pec, Paintsil, Fagundez.
Both teams have an equal amount of quality in their squads, but the Galaxy have difference makers up front with players like Riqui Puig, Joseph Paintsil and Gabriel Pec. The Sounders may have a strong backline, but the G’s will have enough in them to get the job done and advance to the Round of 16.
