Although Nevada is a desert-dominated state, it has no shortage of quality golf courses.
However, that doesn’t mean it’s an easy task to find a great round of golf at a reasonable price.
If you’re not a top player, we’ve compiled a list of the best public access courses that can sometimes, at least, be played for under $100.
Red Hawk Golf and Resort – Hills Course
American golf icon Hale Irwin was instrumental in bringing soul and purpose to his signature design, The Hills Course. This 7,106-yard Reno, Nevada golf course is famous for its narrow greens, dramatic elevation changes and devilishly deep bunkers.
The unpaved roads, surrounding mountains, big sky views, and natural wildlife create a spectacular view of the entire Spanish Springs Valley. Combining elements of what was once a working farm and adding crystal clear ponds for an extra challenge, Hale has created a course that gets every club out of the bag and into play. A true experience you won’t find at other golf resorts in the Reno area.

Angel Park Golf Club – The Palm Course
Angel Park’s Palm Course opened in 1989 and was designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer. The course has views of the Red Rock Mountains and the Las Vegas Strip. The Palm Course is not a long course but challenges golfers with difficult fairways, well-placed sand fairways and par 3s that require great accuracy. Meanwhile, stage 5 is an opportunity to make some strokes and stage 4 will test your accuracy from tee to green.

Toiyabe Golf Club
This golf club located on a private property nestled in the Toiyabe National Forest and the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Washoe Valley, Nevada is great on a budget. The club’s signature 18-hole course by Robert Muir Graves combines a links style with Alpine golf that will challenge players with disabilities, as well as golfers of all abilities. Toiyabe’s course measures 7,166 yards from the tips but can be shortened by a full thousand yards by using white tees with intermediate green tees covering the gap.
Raw money: $45-$75
Golf Summerlin – Palm Valley Golf Course
Palm Valley is Summerlin Golf’s longest and most challenging course. The mature, fair fairways are open enough to allow most players to hit the driver all day, but the deceptively rolling bentgrass greens make every two putt a test. Pine trees line most fairways, as well as 68 fairways and add elements of challenge and a requirement for accurate gameplay to the course.

Toana Vista Golf Course
The Homer Flint-designed Toana Vista Golf Course opened in 1989 and continues to delight visitors to this day as an exciting facility that requires imagination and great photography skills. Being in Wendover this is a hidden gem with a very well maintained course and good times are not hard to come by. The course has amazing views of the surrounding desert and is a great place to see the local wildlife.

Boulder Creek Golf Club
Boulder City Golf Course nestled between three mountains and near Hoover Dam, is more than just an 18-hole golf course. Acclaimed architects Billy Casper and David Rainville designed the course in 1973 to be a 6,600-yard, par 72 course that offers native vegetation, an abundance of trees and several important water features. A traditional layout, Boulder City Golf Course features tree-lined fairways and large, welcoming greens with water features on seven holes. This course has a tendency of 117 for men and 123 for women. It’s great fun for all skill levels and rounds are usually played in four and a half hours or less.

Angel Park Golf Club – Mountain Course
The Mountain Course opened in 1990 and was designed by Arnold Palmer. This property has a great view of the Red Rock Mountains. Located on the west side of the Angel Park area, the Mountain Course is slightly longer than the Palm Course and offers more difficulty when playing par 5s and 4s. Like the Palm Course, the Mountain Course has very difficult greens and the player has to really focus on his putts.
