A new study says the world’s top four golfers are also among the top 15 off-the-course earners in all sports.

It may come as no surprise that Tiger Woods features high on that list.

But Rory McIlroy is left behind while Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler complete golf’s richest quartet.

Woods, a 15-time major winner, is ranked sixth with an estimated $55 million.

How does that compare to the top five?

However, according to olbg.com, the top earner off the court in all sports is basketball’s LeBron James, which the study found to be $80 million by 2024. It adds that he has an estimated net worth of $1 billion.

Footballer Lionel Messi is the second highest earner with an estimated 2024 off-field earnings of $70 million.

He is followed by basketball player Giannis Antekounmpo ($65 million), then soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo and baseball star Shohei Ohtani (both $60 million).

After Woods at the age of six is the basketball team Steph Curry ($50 million) and Kevin Durant ($45.5 million).

McIlroy comes in behind them with an estimated $45 million.

He is the only British and Northern Irish athlete in the top 10. “His income comes from lucrative endorsements with brands such as Nike and TaylorMade, as well as his own clothing and golf course designs,” the study said.

Rahm and Scheffler are tied for twelfth at $20 million.

Another golfer in the top 50 is Australia’s Cameron Smith, who is ranked 40th at $4 million.

For what it’s worth. Rahm is second only to Ronaldo in total estimated earnings for 2024.

It says Rahm earned $198 million from the course for an income of $218 million. Ronaldo’s total salary is estimated at $260 million.
