T20 Women’s World Cup 2024/25, IND-W vs PAK-W Match 7, Group A Match Report, October 06, 2024

Throw it Pakistan he chose to hit vs India

On a sweltering afternoon in Dubai, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana did it right and chose to bat against India in their Group A of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Both teams made one change due to injury. Diana Baig is out with a calf injury against Sri Lanka, replaced by leg-spinner Syeda Aroob Shah. As a result, they have Sana and Aliya Riaz to rely on for seam bowling and up to six spinners in the XI.

In India, Pooja Vastrakar had a niggle and hence, S Sajana was brought in for the XI. The move slightly extends their batting but at the expense of the seam bowler. Sajana rose to the occasion with a last-ball six against Mumbai Indians in the opening game of WPL 2024.

The weather was 37 degrees and the new pitch on which the game was to be played was roughly the size of a square – 61m by 60m on either side. The longest shot was straight down, with 73m.
