T20 World Cup 2024: Fans and pundits panic as Afghanistan reach semi-finals, knocking out Bangladesh and Australia

Afghanistan is sending a competitive sum
Opting to bat first, Afghanistan struggled to gain momentum against Bangladesh’s direct bowling attack. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (43 runs) was the lone bright spark, capping the innings with patient knock. The rest of the call order failed to capitalize, with Rashid Khan (19 not out) providing a late bloomer with three sixes. Rishad Hossain (3/26), Mustafizur Rahman (1/17) and Taskin Ahmed (1/12) by the Bangladeshi bowlers, keeping the Afghan batsmen in check.
Bangladesh fail to run
Despite losing an early wicket, Bangladesh looked well on their way to victory thanks to Litton Das’ gritty half-century (54 not out). However, the introduction of Naveen-ul-Haq (4/26) shifted the momentum in favor of Afghanistan. The young pacer unraveled the Bangladeshi batting order, picking up four crucial wickets in quick succession. The captain Rashid Khan (4/23) he also took wickets at key junctures.
