Vikram Rathour clarifies rumors of disciplinary action against Shubman Gill

“This was always the plan,” Rathour said so in a press conference. “Four reserve players would accompany the team to the US, and two would return home after the group stage. This was decided before the tournament started.”

While admitting the disappointment of missing out on training ahead of the Super 8 stage, Rathour insisted on the safety of the decision. “We would have loved to play,” he admitted, “but the risk of injury due to a wet pitch could not be ignored, especially when it comes to important Super 8 games.”

Rohit Sharma’s India team finds themselves in Group 1 of the Super 8 division and will face Afghanistan in their opening match on Thursday, June 20, in Barbados. The team will be strengthened by the remaining two players, Rinku Singh again Khaleel Ahmed.
