T20 World Cup 2024, USA vs IND: Reason why Monank Patel is not playing today’s match

Participants of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 USA they continue India in the 25th match of the exciting tournament. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the coin toss and decided to enter first. Both teams are aiming for a win to secure their places in the Super 8 stage. With both teams unbeaten and with four points each, India topped the group due to their high run rate.

Monank Patel misses out

As the fans were waiting for the toss, USA’s top order batter Aaron Jones joined Rohit as the regular captain Monank Patel, caused an uproar. Monank, who has successfully led the USA so far, is not participating in today’s game, which is a notable absence.

The reason for Monank’s absence

Jones, who leads the team in the absence of Monank, revealed the reason behind his skipper’s absence. Jones said Monank had a niggle which is why he had to miss today’s game. Jones revealed that Shayan Jahangir has been replaced by Monank. In addition, USA made another change by appointing Shadley van Schalkwyk instead of Nosthush Kenjige.

“We were also going to bowl first, there are assistants who bowl early. He (Monank Patel) has niggles and he should come back soon. It should be a good game and we are looking to play well. The camp is very good, I want to play good cricket. Shayan Jahangir replaced Monank and Shadley stood in for Nosthush,” Jones said.
