GOLF’s latest collection of courses on your must-play list is here.

On Wednesday, we published our first-ever list of America’s best golf courses for $100 or less, which doesn’t include bucket-list gems like Whistling Straits and Bandon Dunes but boasts plenty of fun and affordable golf courses that are accessible to the masses. for golfers. To qualify for the list, courses need to be (1) accessible to the public, (2) a type of golf you would recommend to a friend and (3) offer high season weekend getaway rates not to exceed $100.

You can check out the full list here, but for a quick rundown of what you should know about, scroll below.

1. Legendary architect Donald Ross has the most course design credits on the list with 10, including George Wright, Jeffersonville and Triggs Memorial. Other prominent architects were Robert Trent Jones Sr. (nine lessons), AW Tillinghast (five lessons), Pete Dye (five lessons) and Robert Trent Jones Jr. (four courses).

2. The cutoff for this list was $100, so any course that comes in at that price is obviously the highest value in the group. Six fit that description, and four of them are on Alabama’s most popular RTJ Golf Trail: Capitol Hill (Senator), Highland Oaks (Highlands/Magnolia nines) and Lake 18 and Links 18 at Grand National. Two other $100 courses are Bethpage Red in Farmingdale, NY, and Wailua in Lihue, Hawaii.

3. There are eight subjects in the list can be played for under $40. Less expensive are Buffalo Dunes in Garden City, Kansas, and Fort Myers County Club in Fort Myers, Fla., both of which can be played for a maximum round trip of just $30. The other six are Palatka ($34, Palatka, Fla.), Aiken ($35, Aiken, SC), Pines Crossing ($35, Auburn, Ala.), Cedar Crest ($35, Dallas, Texas), Wolf River Golf Park ($37, Bear Lake, Mich.) and Kearney Hill ($38, Lexington, Ky.).

4. Quick plug: If you’re looking for an affordable golf course near you, visit our new Course Finder tool and search all the options in your area. You can also filter by things like price and type of course.

6. Although few of these studies hosted by the majors over the past decades, one was recently used for the 2024 marquee freshman event. The Chaska Town Course in Chaska, Minn., was the stroke-play host (along with Hazeltine National) of the 2024 US Amateur last month.

7. You may or may not know, but help create this list. To create it, we got recommendations from GOLF partners, editors, industry experts, and yes, even you.

8. About 40 percent of the courses on this list are municipalities, and many appear on our list of the 30 best municipal golf courses in America that we published three years ago. George Wright in Hyde Park, Miss., was an easy pick from this latest list, and was third in that top muni category mentioned above.

9. California has many subjects represented seven, and Alabama and North Carolina each have six. Michigan, Florida and New York all have five each. Thirty-five states were represented.
