The Dutch media launched a stunning attack on Jordan Pickford

The Dutch media launched a stunning attack on Jordan Pickford after England’s win against Slovakia on Sunday.

England toiled for most of the game before Jude Bellingham’s 95th-minute bicycle kick saved the embarrassment and Harry Kane scored the winner in extra time.

The Three Lions have been very difficult, with many players not up to expectations, but Pickford does not fall into that category.

Dutch media attack Pickford

Pickford has been one of England’s best performers at Euro 2024 and has conceded just two goals in four games, and will be tasked with stopping Switzerland in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

A number of players have come in for what is sure to be criticism, and Pickford has found himself on the receiving end of a surprise attack from the Dutch media.

Pickford was heavily criticized by the Dutch media.

In quotes picked up by Dutch club FC Update, pundit Johan Derksen ripped Pickford, calling him “that bad Everton goalkeeper.”

“What bothers me about this team is the bad Everton goalkeeper. He has a goalkeeper with loose socks, like a goalkeeper in the sixth team of the novice team,” he said.

Another researcher, Wilfred Genee, was also shocked and said:

“Did you see how happy he was at the end, when he was holding that ball? It wasn’t good! He should have been allowed, that guy. He is lying there and I think he is not well. Something happened, laughing gas?”

What has got them so upset about Pickford is unclear, but it sounds personal and to seasoned experts it’s a dramatic comment that clearly crossed the line.

Pickford has been a regular under Southgate and has won 65 caps for the Three Lions, and is confident that despite England’s poor start they can end their 58-year wait for a trophy in Germany of all places.
