The French players cheered for Dembele as he received the Man of the Match award

Many French players appeared to boo Ousmane Dembele when he collected his man of the match award for his performance against Portugal.

France played very well as they beat Portugal 5-3 on penalties to play in the semi-finals against Spain.

It was an even game with Portugal arguably having the better chances and France happy to stay the majority of the game.

The French were no better in Germany and became the first team in Euro history to reach the semi-finals without scoring in an open match at the tournament.

However, despite flattering to deceive, they are very difficult to beat and once again find themselves in the final stages of the tournament.

Dembele came into action after 67 minutes as a substitute for Antoine Griezmann and looked dangerous for France, scoring another goal.

He was chosen as the Man of the Match and when he received the award after the game, a number of his teammates gathered around him and raised him up and shouted when Marcus Thuram poured water on the award which Dembele drank.

I’m not sure many Man of the Match awards have been picked up like this before, but it certainly added an element of fun to the proceedings with the French players understandably in good spirits.
