From a numbers standpoint, the Bucks and Pelicans don’t hold a candle to the other teams. The Cavs lost 44 games to injury in the team’s 12 playoff games, making them a staggering 3.5 games per team — the highest such number in the league. Notably, the other top teams on the injury list – the Los Angeles Lakers (3.4) and the Miami Heat (3.2) and the New York Knicks (2.5) – were eliminated from contention. Led by Thibodeau, the Knicks joined the chorus of teams singing “If only we were alive…” to comfort their fans.
