The President Cup matches were delayed by fog on Saturday morning

Those who got up early to watch the first game of the third session of the Presidents Cup on Saturday morning may have been disappointed.

After the first teed off the first hole and the second teed off on their opening shots, PGA Tour officials blew the horn at Royal Montreal, halting play shortly after 7:20 a.m. ET due to heavy fog.

Playing in the second group, Tony Finau, playing with Xander Schauffele in the four-ball setting, had to look to the jumbotron to track his ball, which found the fairway anyway. His opponents, Canadians Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes, both went well left with their drives, but the home crowd, unable to see where the ball was going, roared with delight both times.

The PGA Tour initially hoped to keep players in shape while they waited for the fog to lift, even putting the first group in the hospitality area near the 2nd tee, but after about 15 minutes, both first two groups were removed from the field. golf course, as players were still allowed to use the range.

Saturday’s official PGA Tour forecast prepared by meteorologist Wade Stettner called for partly cloudy skies and a high of 70F.
