The Red Devils may lose Christos Mandas to City

This summer will be a very important one for Man United in particular, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new board can finally begin work in the transfer window.

Given that the INEOS-led takeover came too late for Sir Jim to have any real input in the January window, this summer is the new regime’s first chance to show the Old Trafford faithful what they are all about.

While Financial Fair Play will always ensure that United do learning rather than reckless business, Sir Jim et al can bring everyone on board with a good show in the exchange market.

Man City will attack Man United in Mandas?

Another area where it looks like the club is not happy with their goalkeepers.

Andre Onana is still a work in progress. Despite his solidity between the sticks, he still makes the odd ricket and needs someone of good quality to push him every week.

That goalkeeper is not Altay Bayindir according to TeamTalk, noting that the goalkeeper will soon be leaving Old Trafford.

Man United are looking to challenge their goalkeeper Andre Onana

Corriere dello Sport (h/t TeamTalk) suggests that one of the preferred candidates for the position, Lazio’s Christos Mandas, could be on his way to rivals Man City.

The notification comes out that the representatives of the keeper are in contact with the management of the outfit of the Etihad Stadium, who will need to replace Stefan Ortega if he decides to move on to new pastures.

At just 22 years of age, Mandas has a long time left in the game, and his current club are believed to want to try and sign him if possible.

It is easy to understand why both Premier League giants would want Mandas to be part of their first team staff.

Not only will he put pressure on Onana or Ederson, but he can be a decent option for any team if the No.1 is down through injury or out of form.

Neither Ortega nor Bayindir have been able to do that often enough for City or United, meaning that, where possible, both clubs have generally stuck to their first-choice goalkeepers.
