Hampshire’s Liz Young claimed the second Ladies European Tour title of her career after defeating Belgium’s Manon De Roey for the Hero Women’s Indian Open title.
Trailing De Roey and partner Alice Hewson by one shot going into Sunday’s final round at DLF Golf & Country Club, the 42-year-old from Brockenhurst was still a shot behind De Roey after 14 holes, but the turnaround came at the 5th 15th where Young’s patience paid off and he carded the best birdie.
Two holes later and the treacherous 17th again proved decisive as De Roey holed out to give Young the lead down the final stretch.

Then, the drama. Young’s third shot from a difficult spot found water as a playoff looked to be on the cards in Delhi. But after De Roey couldn’t get up because of the length of the green, Young hit a nice shot from the tee to redeem the bogey and win by one stroke with a closing level 72.
I’m shocked,” said Young, whose only other LET win came at the Swiss Ladies Open in 2022. “It’s my second win, but it’s still as important as all the others. It doesn’t happen as often as a professional golfer.
“Manon is my best friend and we fight all day. It’s never easy to beat a friend, but he won one earlier this year, so it was my turn!”
“I know I had a good round (Saturday) and I felt good about it (Sunday), but I really didn’t hit well all day. Positioning was key. My friend and I studied delicious vegetables all day.”
The result saw Young rise to 12th place on the LET Order of Merit.
