Tiger Woods will not compete in Hero World Challenge – Golf News
Tiger Woods has announced that he will not be participating in the Hero World Challenge in December.
Woods, who hosts the event in the Bahamas, has not played since The Open, more than four months ago. He had back surgery in September.
“I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to compete in the Hero World Challenge, but I always look forward to hosting the tournament,” Woods wrote on X.
Woods said after The Open at Royal Troon that he intended to play, but now it seems too early for him while he recovers.
The 15-time major winner underwent micro-depression surgery of the lumbar spine to allow access to the back nerve. It was the latest of many jobs back in his career.
Meanwhile, Woods said the remaining three spots in the Hero Challenge field will be filled by Justin Thomas, Jason Day and Nick Dunlap.
