Turnberry ‘surpasses’ Shadow Creek as the most expensive cycle in the world

It’s an open secret that Trump-owned Turnberry has been looking to improve in an effort to restore the historic course in the race to return to the Open rota.

The resort where this course is located has made some progress in terms of being in a position where they can afford extensive upgrades.

However, with a return to the Open Championship far from guaranteed even if improvements are made, Turnberry has opted to raise his green fees to a higher level to carry out the repair work.

With a round costing up to £1,000, former US President Donald Trump’s Scottish golf course is set to become the most expensive in the UK.

Starting in June of next year, Trump Turnberry intends to use green fees during certain peak hours.

It will apply to players who wish to play before 13:00 but are not staying at the five-star hotel and spa at the South Ayrshire resort.

The resort says that by taking this step, it hopes to protect the meeting times of hotel members and guests.

“Staying in a hotel and playing Ailsa will come in at somewhat less than £1,000, so it’s best to do it that way,” Trump Turnberry general manager Nic Oldham told Bunkered magazine.

“That’s better for the golfer, because they get the full five-star experience, but it’s also better for Turnberry.

“We are different from other places that have hosted the Open because we are a complete resort, therefore, we need to make sure that all parts of our business are working.

“Simply selling rounds of golf is not a sustainable business model.”

Bunkered magazine deputy editor Michael McEwan defended Turnberry against claims of pricing ordinary golfers out of the game.

“I can’t defend that I have to pay £1,000 green fees – that’s a lot of money for anyone to pay.

“It’s the most expensive in the UK and up there with the most expensive in the world. But even Turnberry itself does not expect people to pay that,” said McEwan.

“Instead, what they are doing is to protect those important and most desirable moments for their members and hotel residents who will not be able to play this course because people are paying to get this course at that time and then just leave.

“Turnberry is a five-star resort, a five-star experience. The golf course is quite different. Well designed, amazingly maintained, exceptional views.

“Most of the world’s golf course rankings have them in the top five, and sometimes in the top one or two. So we are talking about the best of the best here. “

Trump’s high-end Scottish estate has teamed up with professional help to move ahead with low-cost plans to renovate one of the country’s most historic golf courses in a bid to ensure one of the sport’s governing bodies grants Trump’s long-awaited bid to host the Open Championship. .

According to sources, the main concern of the R&A is the security threat and possible protests.

Turnberry is one of seven courses in Scotland to have hosted the Open, most recently in 2009.

In 2015, Turnberry hosted the Women’s British Open, however that was awarded to the club prior to Trump’s purchase of the historic property.

According to rumors, Turnberry, who has won The Open four times before, will not hold it again since Trump owns the club.
