Twitter explodes as USA stun Pakistan to record record win in 2024 T20 World Cup
With incredible anger, he The United States of America (USA) pulled off a historic victory over Pakistan in the 11th game of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.
USA imposes 159 restrictions on Pakistan
Opting to bowl first, the USA bowlers did well to restrict Pakistan’s star-studded batting line-up to 159/7 in their 20 overs. Babar Azam (44 runs) and Shadab Khan (40 runs) were the only Pakistani batsmen to score. Nosthush Kenjige (3/30) and Saurabh Netravalkar (2/18) have been the American bowlers, picking up important wickets at regular intervals.
The USA reaches an impressive 159
Chasing a challenging target of 160 runs, the USA batsmen showed remarkable composure. Monank Patel (50 runs) and Aaron Jones (36 not out) anchored the chase with valuable contributions. Despite losing wickets in regular periods, the USA batsmen continued to dominate the league, with contributions from Andries Gous (35 runs) and Nitish Kumar (14 not out) proved crucial.
A nail-biting finale and a Super Over
The match went down to the final as USA needed 14 runs from the last over. They managed to tie the score in the last ball, which shook the crowd. A Super Over was required to decide the winner.
In the Super Over, USA put 18 runs on the scoreboard. However, in reply, Pakistan could only manage 13/1 from their six balls.
USA captain Monank Patelwho impressed with his batting, was awarded as the best player.
