Twitter Reaction: Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik’s heroics give RCB a GT win | IPL 2024

In a tense 52nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in the middle Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) again Gujarat Titans (GT), cricket fans were treated to a spectacle of powerful batting, heart-pounding spin, and thrilling displays of skill. In the end, RCB prevailed as they handed GT a four-wicket defeat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday (May 4).
GT’s early hurdles: Mohammed Siraj strikes early
It is led by Shubman Gill, GT elected to bat first after winning the toss, setting the stage for a tense battle at the crease. GT’s innings started on a shaky note as they lost early wickets to RCB’s relentless bowling. Wriddhiman Saha and Gill went for a low price, courtesy of Mohammed SirajA blazing fire, putting the GT on the back foot right from the start.
Battling GT: Middle-order toughness and brilliance of Rahul Tewatia
Despite the initial setback, the central system showed resilience, with Shah Rukh Khan again David Miller stopping the ship with a coordinated but aggressive strike. As the innings progressed, GT gained momentum with a burst of batting Rahul Tewatia (35), whose determined stroke play has boosted the team’s value. However, the RCB bowlers, led by Siraj and Yash Dayal, struck at crucial moments to restrict GT to a challenging yet achievable target of 148 runs.

RCB’s top batting display: Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis shine
In pursuit of the target, the RCB batting juggernaut came out firing on all cylinders. Virat Kohli set the tone with a low knock, showing his trademark finesse and ferocity. However, it was Faf du Plessis who stole the show with a stunning innings of 64 runs off just 23 balls, showing brilliance in power hitting as he bowled GT bowlers from all over the world.
Dinesh Karthik’s last win for RCB
Despite losing wickets in regular intervals, RCB maintained the required run rate, thanks to Du Plessis’ onslaught. As the GT bowlers tighten the screws in the latter stages of the innings, the game hangs in the balance. However, Dinesh Karthik showed nerves of steel, guiding RCB to the finish line with a combined innings of 21 runs from 12 balls under pressure.
The GT bowlers, led by Joshua Little again Noor Ahmad, have shown admirable skill and determination in their efforts to protect the target. However, RCB’s relentless pursuit of victory proved unstoppable as they cruised to a thrilling victory with two balls to spare, much to the delight of their fans.
