UX reacts as Kylian Mbappe scores in Real Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup win

Real Madrid are UEFA Super Cup champions once again, moving ahead of rivals Barcelona with their sixth win in the competition’s history.

After a torrid first half, Real Madrid turned on the style after the break and produced two quick-fire goals to take the game out of Atalanta’s hands. Federico Valverde scored the first with half an hour to play and Mbappe got the first goal of his dreams not long after.

Before the ball was kicked, Mbappe was already stealing the headlines. The Frenchman has been named in the Real Madrid starting line-up by Carlo Ancelotti for the first time, marking his long-awaited official debut for Los Blancos.

He wasn’t the only star rocking white, either.

Despite a shot on target for both teams in the first half in Warsaw, Rodrygo had a good chance to put Real Madrid ahead seconds before the half-time whistle.

Received by Vinicius Junior in the penalty area, he let it fly towards the goal from 12 yards but his shot went off the top of the post. The Brazilian should have done better.

Atalanta then tested Thibaut Courtois just two minutes after the break with Mario Pasalic’s fine header. The Belgian goalkeeper made a solid save to keep Los Blancos level.

Courtois’ stunning save proved crucial ten minutes later as Real Madrid took the lead through Valverde. The midfielder headed home from three meters after a stunning run past Vinicius.

But the moment all Real Madrid fans were waiting for came nine minutes later when Mbappe walked off in celebration following his first goal for the Spanish giants.

Despite showing determination from Atalanta, they could not put a glove on Real Madrid in the second half as Los Blancos got the first trophy of 2024/25.
