UX reacts as Man City begin their Premier League title defense with a win at Chelsea

Manchester City got their Premier League title defense off to a flying start as they hosted a strong but flawed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Cityzens watched as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all started with wins in the first weekend of the league season but quickly returned to football as goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic helped them win in London.

The game is not far away at Stamford Bridge and there was a huge outcry all over social media before kick-off.

Chelsea had to leave out several key players from their matchday squad as City travel to west London, but Raheem Sterling was not expected to be one of them.

This player who once played for Cityzen was denied the opportunity to prove himself in his old team by coach Enzo Maresca, who did not completely remove him from his team. Sterling’s representatives admitted they now wanted “clarity” on the situation, while Maresca said his decision to leave the England international was “technical”.

It was a poor start to the PR afternoon for Chelsea but things got better when their clash with the Premier League champions finally got under way, managing to keep their opponents at bay for a quarter of an hour and send four of them off before the break. the season has been friendly for the past few weeks.

However, despite a relatively promising start, the Blues went behind as the inevitable goalscorer reminded everyone of his stature.

Chelsea managed to find holes in City’s arsenal and could have equalized with a penalty had Savinho been penalized for a foul on Enzo Fernandez.

However, this call did not favor the athletes, and just before the break, Nicolas Jackson said that the home fans were insulting the offside rule as his strike did not exist.

The second half was much closer but so far for Chelsea, frustrated and puffed up in the final third without finding a leveler to earn Maresca any points in his first official game in charge.

Instead, Pep Guardiola’s clothes made the game without doubt late because of the former Blue. Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic smashed past Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez to score, catching Robert Sanchez unawares at the near post.

That proved to take the sting out of Chelsea’s following, with City comfortably holding on to win 2-0 and begin their Premier League title defense in successful fashion.
