Vancouver Whitecaps vs Inter Miami: Preview, predictions and lineup

Inter Miami hit the road to face Canadian outfit Vancouver Whitecaps in a Major League Soccer match.

After a good start to the 2024 campaign, Vancouver has struggled in recent weeks with just one win in its last seven league games. However, Vanni Sartini’s are still in a strong position in the Western Conference table with 19 points collected in 13 games played.

The other side of the matchup sees the Herons step up north of the border after their recent win over DC United. It wasn’t a convincing win for the south Florida team, but they managed to extend their unbeaten run to seven with six wins and one draw during that stretch. Miami sits at the top of the Supporters’ Shield after 15 games played with 31 points.

Here it is 90 minWhitecaps vs the Herons guide.

This will be the first meeting between the Vancouver White caps and Inter Miami.

Miami coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino will still be without Diego Gomez as the midfielder is still recovering from an ankle sprain. However, it is reported that Federico Redondo and Ian Fray have returned to training and may be seen off the bench soon for the Herons.

Nicolas Freire – on loan from Pumas Liga MX – suffered a torn ACL vs DC and will miss the rest of the campaign as a result.

Inter Miami predicted to face Vancouver Whitecaps (4-3-3): Applicant; Weigandt, Aviles, Kryvtsov, Alba; Gressel, Busquets Cremaschi; Messi, Suarez, Rojas.

Despite Vancouver’s recent slump, they can still pose a threat to the Herons’ defense between the strong front line of Brian White and Ryan Gauld.

However, Miami has too much firepower on their front line to make three-pointers. The Heron will comfortably win away from home in their first ever game against the Whitecaps at BC Place to continue their stay at the top of the Supporters’ Defence.

Prediction: Vancouver Whitecaps 1-3 Inter Miami
