‘Very friendly’ ahead of Euro 2024 – Liverpool’s Robertson
Scotland record-breaker Andy Robertson said his side’s friendly against Finland was too difficult for a team “full of excitement and dreams” for Uefa Euro 2024.
Steve Clarke’s men drew 2-2 at Hampden Park, beating a 2-0 deficit and conceding an 85th-minute penalty.
“We’ve all been through it, that’s the most important thing,” said Robertson. “It is very difficult; I can’t tell you how hard it is when you have something so big, so close and you have to prepare it.
“The boys were really good, all things considered. We are all fit and healthy and boarding that plane on Sunday full of joy and dreams. Let’s go get it.”

Scotland Euro 2024 ‘dream’
Robertson has captained his national team for the 49th time and is now tasked with inspiring them to a strong result in the opening game of the final against Germany at home on June 14.
Scotland have only won their last six games against minnows Gibraltar but have managed to enter the tournament, running three-time Euro champions Spain to top their group.
They are playing in the Euro for the second time in a row but have never progressed to the group stage in three attempts.
“There are a lot of emotions,” Robertson said. “We are going there to fulfill our lifelong dreams. It is in the corner, we have removed the friendlies and it is true.
“We won so early and so fast that it feels like we’ve been talking about it for a long time. Now it is close, so that the Tartan Army can be happy, as we can and our families. It’s a very exciting time to be in Scotland.”
Scotland v Germany: ‘Roll on Friday’
Scotland may need to be at their best to get at least a point against Die Mannschaft, who are regarded as title contenders.
Finland’s Arttu Hoskonen deflected in Robertson’s cross to give the hosts the lead before Lawrence Shankland nodded in the Liverpool wideman’s delivery to double the advantage.
“We were good for 60, 65 minutes and then we took our foot off a bit,” added Robertson. “It was a good exercise for us; it will be available next Friday.”
