Vokey adds Tour-certified K* to WedgeWorks lineup – Golf News
Vokey Design’s IK* lob wedge, a popular grind on Tour, is now available for the first time through the WedgeWorks product line.
The IK* grind, which is offered in lofts of 58° and 60° in Vokey’s new range of SM10 wedges, is designed for players with a medium to shallow angle of attack who play on a variety of turf surfaces.
In the bags of Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Cameron Young and Ludwig Åberg, among others, the K* grind evolved from player requests for a single modification of the popular low bounce K grind lob wedge.
Instead of the full, smooth K Grind sole, the K* Grind sole features increased forefoot wear on the leading edge and heel, toe and edge relief.
The leading edge adds forgiveness from the square face, with a small ribbon of added bounce on the leading edge to help resist excessive digging.
In the open face area, the heel, toe and trailing edge on the K* allows the leading edge to stay close to the ground, adding greenside flexibility by helping the player slide under the ball with ease.
Also, like all K Grind models, the K* has a wide sole that works well without bunkers.
Speaking about the performance qualities of the K* grind, DP World Tour Vokey representative Will Harvey said: “IK* has evolved into a versatile option. A common comment is “I can use this wedge everywhere, I don’t like changing soles week to week, the K* has the perfect combination of width and bounce to work everywhere from hard links to soft Bermuda.”
The SM10 wedge K* model has an RRP of £209 and can be custom ordered with a choice of different shafts, handles, shaft bands, ferrules and paint finishes. It can also be customized with individual stamp symbols.
