He believes that excellence in long format cricket is what will make people remember a bowler even after decades, making them unique in the history of cricket. Akram sees great potential in Arshdeep Singh, rates him highly, and encourages him to adopt this mentality to achieve endless greatness in his career.

“If you have to leave a legacy, you have to think about long format cricket. People must be talking about you even after 10-20 years since you retired that no such bowler has entered the history of cricket. These young skaters should have that kind of mentality. There is no doubt that he has the ability. I would have given him eight,” Akram told Sportskeeda in an interview.

Akram praised Arshdeep for his incredible talent and skill, highlighting his ability to swing the ball from both sides with good pace. He felt that while T20 cricket can bring financial rewards and short-term fame, performing well in Test cricket will make a far more significant contribution to a player’s long-term legacy and career stability.

“It’s very impressive, he’s very talented. He should also focus on four-day cricket because he has the swing and pace. He swings the ball from both sides and the new ball fits well. I think he has the potential to become a regular bowler for India. I hope he has Test cricket on his mind because he will make money in T20s and his name will be made for one year in T20s,” added Akram.
