The 18th fairway at St Andrews is one of the widest fairways in golf.
It’s big. With a 100 yard wide 1st fairway going down the other way, there are acres of space to get into.
But Bill Murray suffered a terrible blow when he holed his drive from the 18th in the fourth round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The image of the Hollywood star zooms to the right and extends beyond the white billboards of the hotels. “Just on the toe. It’s a scuttler,” Ken Brown commented.
That is out of bounds.
Except… it’s not!
Murray’s ball hits the iron fence and magically comes out of play after bouncing back off the concrete walkway.
How’s that for an amazing break!
