West Indies’ chase falters after a strong start

Hosts England resumed Day 4 of the Test match at 248/3 and went on to post an impressive total of 425, thanks to centuries from their overnight batsmen. Joe Root (122) and Harry Brook (109).

Challenging 385 to win the Test match, West Indies initially showed promise by adding 60 runs for the first wicket. However, their innings quickly fell apart, collapsing to 91/6. Kevin Sinclair was the sixth man to be dismissed in the 24th over of the West Indies chase, further reducing their chances of success.

Mark Wood destroys Kevin Sinclair with a brutal bumper

Wood unleashed a terrifying bouncer that soared straight into Sinclair’s body, leaving the right-handed batter with little time to react. Trying to defend himself, Sinclair took his eyes off the ball and raised his hand in front of his face.

The ball hit the wrist band of Sinclair’s glove, sending the ball into the catcher’s mitt Zak Crawley in the second slide. Sinclair, hoping to clear it, opted for a review, but the decision stood as the plays clearly showed that the ball was blocked. This wicket was part of West Indies’ rapid collapse under relentless pressure from the England bowlers. Sinclair was dismissed for 1 off 17 balls.

Shoaib Bashir’s magic and a complete victory for England

The West Indies started their second innings strongly with an opening stand of 61, but quickly fell short after drinks. Michael Louis (17) and Kirk McKenzie (1) issued by Chris Woakes again Shoaib Bashir respectively. The captain Craig Brathwaite (47) and he fell to Woakes. Kavem Hodgewho scored a century in the first innings, got out for a duck to Bashir, who went on to take five wickets, including the key wickets of Alick Athanaze (1) and Jason Holder (37).
