Last week Nicolas Colsaerts was not even playing in the Dunhill Links Championship.
He now leaves St Andrews in second place and his playing rights are set for next year.
The Belgian produced rounds of 65-65-65-70 and his third round at Kingsbarns was particularly impressive as he had an eagle on 3, four more birdies and a rare birdie on 16.
Colsaerts somehow managed to make two on the par 5 to become the fourth player to do so at Dunhill.
The club of choice was a 6-iron and the approach shot came from 223 yards and the result saw the ball use the spine well, not that he knew what had happened.

“When you play Kingsbarns and you play 16 and you see that ball down the left, that’s where you’d like to see the flag, which is not a normal place,” said the 41-year-old.
“That 6-iron just came out great. I said, I’m going to take a chance and try to fly there, and I saw the ball coming back down the backstop, I said, OK, and I put both hands in the air. Very special. The albatross is very rare, really happy, yes.
“I saw one of you with a camera in the back and he told me that he had entered. I would have been more than happy to tap-in three, but the cherry on the cake is the 6-iron albatross 2 on. the par 5 is very good.”
Colsaerts would finish with a two-under 70 on the Old Course to come within one shot of three-time winner Tyrrell Hatton.
