Rickie Fowler’s orange set at the Open Championship is always eye-catching but even more impressive is this amazing putt at St Andrews back in 2010.

Fowler unleashed this monster on the 17th hole of the Old Course, rolling it in from 126 feet.

The confidence you need to get this right. And no wonder the crowd went crazy.

Why does Rickie Fowler wear orange on Sundays?

Fowler chooses orange in those final rounds as a reminder of his alma mater Oklahoma State University, where he was a student in 2007 and 2008. The Cowboys, who have won 11 men’s national championships in golf, wear orange and black.

Named the nation’s best golfer in 2008 (by the Friends of Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America), Fowler made history at Oklahoma State.

Throughout his professional career, Fowler wore orange, from top to toe. In recent years, he has changed it to his shirt, shoes or pants alone.

“Not many people wear orange so it’s a good way to stand out a little bit,” Fowler said at the time. “I played college golf at Oklahoma State, the school colors are orange and black.”

Fowler considered not wearing his orange at the 2019 Open Championship, which was held at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. The color is linked to the Orange Order, a dissident unionist group based in Northern Ireland.

“A couple of players on my Oklahoma State team wore the same colors, so at that point it was a bonding thing,” Fowler said at the time (via Belfast Telegraph). “But no one really does it on tour. I like to think of it as my little personal style. “
