WATCH: Rovman Powell blasts sixes off Tim Southee in The Hundred Men’s 2024
Finally cut it in Match 9 of Men’s Century 2024 competition, Birmingham Phoenix earned a hard-fought victory by six runs Trent rockets. The match, held at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, featured some impressive performances from both teams, but it was the Phoenix’s all-round effort that came out victorious.

The Rockets won the toss and elected to field first, setting the stage for an interesting contest. Phoenix’s innings was bolstered by strong contributions from Ben Duckett (21 of 17), Liam Livingstone (30 off 20) and the best player Jacob of Bethelwho remained unbeaten on 46 from 29 balls.
Their collective effort guided Phoenix to a competitive total of 138/6. Rashid Khan he was the pick of the bowlers for the Rockets, taking two wickets, during the season Imad Wasim, Sam Cook, Lewis Gregory again Joe Root each took a wicket, showing a balanced bowling attack.

Rovman Powell added some much-needed firepower to the Rockets’ chase with an explosive cameo. Powell’s most memorable moment came on the 87th ball of their innings when he hit a six. Tim Southee. Delivering the ball, a length ball towards the leg stump, is powerfully delivered over deep wicket for a 97-metre six. The ball went up and out of the stands, hit the boundary wall and landed, proving Powell’s blast.

However, Powell’s innings was cut short on the next ball, as he hit a shot to the sweeper cover there. Jacob of Bethel he made an amazing diving catch. Powell’s innings ended on 21 off 13 balls, including one six and two boundaries. Despite his efforts, the Rockets fell by six runs, ending their chase at 132 out.
The victory was built on the back of some impressive bowling from Phoenix. Dan Mousley led the offense with 3-of-9 figures, while Adam Milne (2/20), Tim Southee (1/24) and Benny Howell (1/19) provided significant support. Their disciplined shooting ensured that the Rockets could not close the target, earning Phoenix two important points in this tough game.
