Despite John’s impressive batting, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots managed 153 for 8 in their 20 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga he was a key contributor for the Patriots, scoring a career-high 40 off 27 balls. His innings included five boundaries and a top 6, but with wickets constantly falling at the other end, the Patriots struggled to form meaningful partnerships.
Chasing 154, Barbados Royals found themselves in an uphill battle. Despite losing wickets in regular time, they held their momentum to reach 157 for 8 in 19.5 overs, securing a two-wicket victory.
The Royals’ win was largely due to the all-around heroics of Dunith Wellageduly nominated as Player of the Match. Wellage excelled with both bat and ball, taking three crucial wickets in the first innings to stop the Patriots, and later contributed a valuable 39 off 32 balls during their chase. His scripted knock, punctuated by well-timed boundaries, led the Barbados Royals out of tricky situations and ultimately led to victory.
