WCPL 2024 – Jemimah Rodrigues looks at TKR season as game time ahead of 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup
“These are the games I will get before I play as proper games for the team [T20 World Cup],” said Rodrigues in a press conference organized by Rodrigues Fan code.
“I’m looking forward to a few things that I’m working on to try and apply here because when you do it in practice it’s different. When you do it in a game, it’s very different and franchise cricket is always fun. I.”
As he builds towards a fourth T20 World Cup, Rodriguez would have to be content with preparation camps, simulations and practice matches if not for the WCPL.
“I look at it more as preparation for the T20 World Cup, and at the same time the added responsibility of playing for TKR is to do whatever I can to ensure that my team wins in the end.”

“I like to travel, I like to play for different teams,” said Rodrigues when asked about the prospect of playing in the Caribbean. “I like to meet new people and new cricketers and know how their mind works and how they play in different situations. Because every time you go to play cricket you don’t get the same type of situation. Every time it changes.
“When you’re in that situation and in those moments of pressure I think that’s the best preparation you can have, so for me, I look at it more like preparing for the T20 World Cup, and at the same time more responsibility. I play for TKR to do whatever I can to make sure my team wins in the end, so I’m looking forward to playing these games and I’m really excited about that.”
Known as a sensational batsman, Rodriguez has had to move out of his comfort zone and bat at No.5, with India coach Amol Muzumdar keen to loan him out to the middle order. In the WCPL, however, Rodriguez is likely to hit No. 3.
Would changing call points be a challenge?
“I think every batter has his own formula,” Rodrigues explained of the challenges of batting in the slow pitches of the Caribbean. “But I think for me, it’s very important to assess the conditions quickly and know what shots work for me on the slow track. For me, just knowing what shots work and having that clarity and getting out there clearly helps wherever I play. For me, the basic formula is to have clarity and use them as well play wherever you play.”
