West Ham have tabled a £6m bid to sign the 68-goal Premier League forward

West Ham United have tabled a £6m bid for Crystal Palace defender Wilfried Zaha, according to reports.

The 31-year-old Ivory Coast international left Selhurst Park for Turkish giants Galatasaray last summer and scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 42 games in all competitions in his first season in Istanbul – winning the Super Lig and Turkish Super Cup twice along the way.

That came after two incredible seasons at Crystal Palace, where Zaha scored 90 goals and provided 62 assists in 458 appearances in all competitions – separated by a disappointing spell at Manchester United – with 68 of those goals coming in the Premier League.

Galatasaray are willing to clear Zaha’s salary

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac (via TBR), Galatasaray are looking to get Zaha’s wages – reportedly worth £3.75m a year – on the books despite his success with the club.

Fotomac claim that the Lions would be happy to accept £8m offers for the 31-year-old, even though his current contract expires in 2026, with the Istanbul club acquiring the striker on a free transfer last summer.

West Ham are understood to be keen on bringing Zaha back to London as they rebuild under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

However, there is more work to be done with the Hammers reportedly launching an offer of just £6m for Zaha, whose Transfermarkt value is currently in excess of £9m.

Despite being in his 30s, there is no doubt that Zaha will fill a need for West Ham, with Jarrod Bowen (16) the club’s only player to have registered more than eight Premier League goals in 2023/24.
