West Ham or Spurs? – London rivals set for Ivan Toney’s £50m fight

According to recent reports, the pursuit of Ivan Toney this summer is now a two-horse race.

This is said by Steve Kay who is always loyal to Football Transfers, who says that the two Premier League teams leading the race to sign this striker are West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur.

Toney, 28, is set to leave Brentford this summer after four impressive years.

And in a likely big-money bid, the Bees are guaranteed to make a huge splash on the England international after they signed him from Peterborough for just £5 million earlier.

The 28-year-old is rumored to have a choice between the two London clubs who are both in the market for a top-class marquee – and Toney fits the bill.

The Hammers, who are expected to replace David Moyes with Julen Lopetegui, are putting forward a striker who will take over from Michail Antonio and Spurs are yet to replace Harry Kane following his move to Bayern Munich last summer.

Both clubs are expected to make offers worth £50 million for Brentford.

During his four years at the Gtech Community Stadium, Toney, who is a key player in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s Euros, has scored 72 goals and registered 22 assists in 139 appearances in all competitions.
