Canada is one of the easiest countries to photograph so it’s no surprise that it has some of the most attractive golf courses in the world too, offering a variety of terrain, from coastal cliffs to rugged mountains.
Visual appeal has never been more important since the advent of Instagram and a new study by indoor golf experts IndoorGolfGuide has revealed the 10 most Instagrammed golf courses in Canada based on the number of tagged Instagram posts talking about each course.
Coming in at number one is the Colt Course at Toronto Golf Club, with 14,780 Instagram posts.
The club is one of the oldest in North America and the course was designed by the great architect Harry Colt in 1912. Her great design, stunning backdrop and proximity to Toronto’s city center make her popular with Instagram users.
Two head numbers in the mountains with Calgary Golf & Country Club tagged in 8,811 posts. It is Alberta’s oldest private golf club and features beautiful fairways framed by mature trees and water features. It’s a place to share.
The Old Course at Wolf Creek Golf Resort ranked third, with 5,616 tagged Instagram posts. Another track in Alberta has rolling terrain, open fairways and deep bunkers.
The province of British Columbia makes the top five with Tobiano Golf Course (5,149 posts). Nestled between the shores of Lake Kamloops with its desert-like landscape and dramatic changes in elevation provide a stunning backdrop against the deep blue lake and surrounding mountains.
And the top five is completed by Glen Abbey GC (4,341) which is the most prestigious course in Canada, having hosted the Canadian Open more than 30 times. Its famous “Valley Holes” run down to Sixteen Mile Creek, offering sweeping views and challenging elevation shifts that are fun to play and stunning to photograph.
Many will be surprised that Banff Springs is only ranked eighth. It offers a nature-focused golf experience in the heart of Banff National Park. The fairways meander along the Bow River, with the surrounding mountains providing a dramatic, rugged backdrop—perfect for the perfect landscape shot.

Jehan Wadia, CEO of IndoorGolfGuide said: “This study highlights the growing convergence between golf, natural beauty, and social media.
“Canada’s most Instagrammed courses, from the rugged links of Wolf Creek to the scenic Banff Springs, show that today’s golfers want not only challenging play but stunning scenery.
“As social media increasingly influences travel and entertainment choices, courses that offer a blend of heritage, unique design, and visual appeal thrive in the digital age.”
