Winning the treble in football is the ultimate prize for clubs at the top of their game after a long, monumental season.

All the big clubs want to have such a successful season that it ends with a treble. As teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and PSG dominate their domestic leagues, they tend to put more emphasis on promotion. many Cups come in May and June.

The teams ended their season with a record treble, joining a short list of foreign clubs to achieve the same feat. Even some of the most successful players and clubs have never added the treble to their resumes.

So, what exactly is a treble in soccer, and which teams have won one recently?

A treble in football is when a team wins three trophies in one season. The most impressive trebles include the domestic league title, the Champions League title, and the domestic cup triumph.

The Manchester City team of 2023 achieved the best after winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in one season. Bayern Munich won the treble again in 2020 after coming out on top in the Bundesliga, Champions League, and DFB-Pokal.

There are all kinds of trebles, however, a club can win without winning the Champions League or the domestic cup. Liverpool secured three trophies in 2020 after Jürgen Klopp’s side won the UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, and finally, the Premier League.

Rangers and Celtic also have multiple domestic trebles after winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, and Scottish League Cup. Similarly, PSG achieved multiple domestic trebles with their victories in Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Coupe de la Ligue in a single season.

Although as rare as trebles, European clubs have the most recent and impressive examples in all of football.
