What makes this one-of-a-kind Pinehurst tour so special

Our InsideGOLF Pinehurst Experience team features golfers of all ages from across the US and Canada.

Golf fans will remember Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open victory at Pinehurst for years to come. Number 2 provided a tough test, the crowd roared and the championship was closed with a spectacular finish.

And for the group of golf enthusiasts who visited Pinehurst Resort in the weeks leading up to the US Open, it was even more special.

As part of one trip, a group of InsideGOLF members walked the closing distance of No. Surrounded by bare steps and ideal conditions, their tour guides were golf broadcasting legends Peter Kostis and Gary McCord. It was a round of golf none of us will soon forget.

Walking in the shrine of No. 2 wasn’t the only memorable event on the tour, however. Over the course of three days, the team played The Cradle, Course No. 8, and Pinehurst’s new single, No. 10, an interesting design by Tom Doak.

“No. 10 I had to play for myself,” said InsideGOLF member Matt Parker. β€œIt provided challenging, fun images and amazing views. I loved shooting blindly over bones in old sand mines.”

Besides the course, our group got the full experience of Pinehurst. We stayed at the newly renovated Carolina Hotel and had exclusive access to Golf Pride’s Global Innovation Center and Retail Lab. At Golf Pride, participants learned about the advancements in golf grip technology and got to try new products for themselves. In the heart of Pinehurst, we also visited the brand new USGA Experience and the World Golf Hall of Fame, which showcases the history of the sport in an interactive setting.

Our last group meal of the trip was incredibly special. We dined in the backyard of Dornoch Cottage, home of the famous painter Donald Ross. During dinner, we were treated to a fireside chat with Kostis and McCord, who answered questions about the future of golf and shared some of their favorite stories.

To top it all off, attendees received great swag bags. They included Pinehurst US Open apparel, GolfLogix green books, Fairway Jockey gift cards, a dozen Srixon Z-Star golf balls, a Cleveland wedge, Bask sunscreen, and a free True Spec driver. Golf.
