Wild Defeat Sharks 5-2 – Hockey Writers – Minnesota Wild

Despite only having one day off between games and flying across the country, the Minnesota Wild were busy Thursday night as they traveled to San Jose and beat the Sharks 5-2. It was a great comeback game as the team played very poorly on Tuesday night losing 5-1 at home to the Los Angeles Kings.

Complete the Game

As soon as the puck dropped, the Wild were on their game. Zach Bogosian scored his second goal of the season two minutes into the game. The strong start didn’t end there; the powerplay scored, the penalty kill didn’t allow a goal, and even the fourth line looked good after the entire line went 2-and-out against the Los Angeles Kings.

Minnesota had four field goals in the second period, but two were called for offside. Mats Zuccarello scored the second wild pitch after a deflected pass from Kirill Kaprizov. Matt Boldy had two goals including a powerplay goal as they went 1-3 on the powerplay tonight. Jonas Brodin would score early in the third period for the first time of the season.

Marc-André Fleury was very strong in net tonight making 24 saves in the win. He has now won three straight for the Wild giving up just seven goals in those three games.

Kaprizov His Ordinary Self

As on most nights, Kaprizov was the team’s best player. The Russian will get his fifth three-point game in 13 games, with three assists tonight. It was a great bounce back game for him after being sidelined for the past two games.

Filip Gustavsson looks to get his seventh win of the season as the Wild have a quick turnaround game on Friday in Anaheim against the Ducks.
